17 Days Special Student Study Tour

Overview.

This Special Student Study Tour offers a comprehensive exploration of Tanzania’s diverse landscapes and cultural heritage. The journey begins in Arusha, with guided walks and game drives, then moves to Lake Manyara and Lake Eyasi for wildlife viewing and interactions with the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes. The adventure continues with a visit to the Ngorongoro Crater and Olduvai Gorge, followed by an immersive experience in the Serengeti National Park. Students will also explore cultural sites near Lake Victoria, track chimpanzees in Gombe National Park, and discover historical landmarks in Ujiji and Stone Town, Zanzibar. The tour concludes with snorkeling at Mnemba Island and relaxation on the pristine beaches of Zanzibar, providing a rich blend of education, adventure, and relaxation.

Day by Day Plan

Day 1
Arrive JRO. Meet and transfer to Palace Hotel Arusha for overnight bed/breakfast.

Day 2

Morning transfer to Momella gate to start the guided walk to Miriakamba hut 2,600m with picnic lunch. Descend in the afternoon for game drive round the Momella lakes before driving back to  Arusha Palace Hotel or similar for dinner and overnight.

Day 3

After breakfast drive to Lake Manyara National Park for game viewing with picnic lunch. Afternoon drive to Lake Eyasi for dinner and overnight at Eyasi Country Lodge.

Day 4

Early morning go hunting with the Hadzabe/Datoga tribe, return to the lodge for late breakfast. Relax on the lake shore until lunch time. After lunch, drive to Ngorongoro for dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Wildlife/Serena/Sopa  or Rhino Lodge.

Day 5

Early morning descend in to the crater with picnic lunch for game viewing. Ascend early in the afternoon and drive to Olduvai gorge to visit the museum. Proceed to Serengeti National Park for dinner and overnight at Serengeti Wildlife Lodge or Serena or Sopa  Lodge.

Day 6

Full day in Serengeti with game drives, full board at the same lodge.

Day 7

Morning game viewing en route to the Sukuma village on the shore of Lake Victoria for cultural tour and visit to the school. Lunch at Speke Bay. Afternoon drive to Mwanza for dinner and overnight at New Mwanza Hotel.

Day 8

Transfer to the airport for flight to Kigoma via Dar, on arrival, meet and transfer to Lake Tanganyika Hotel with full board stay.

Day 9

Transfer by boat to Gombe National Park. After lunch chimpanzee tracking. Dinner and overnight at the Kasekela Hostel or Gombe Tented Camp.

Day 10

Morning chimpanzee tracking, return to the hostel or lodge for lunch. Afternoon relax on the lake shore. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 11

Transfer back to Kigoma by boat for lunch. Afternoon tour Ujiji historical site where David Livingstone met Speke. Dinner and overnight at Lake Tanganyika Hotel.

Day 12

Transfer to the airport for morning flight to Dar. On arrival meet and transfer to  Mwenge  for lunch, visit the Mwenge Makonde village. Transfer to a hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 13

Morning drive to Bagamoyo to visit the historical sites there with lunch at Bagamoyo. Afternoon return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 14

Transfer to the port or airport for flight to Zanzibar, on arrival transfer to stone town for half day tour of historical sites, lunch in stone town. Afternoon transfer to  a beach hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 15

After breakfast transfer to Mnemba  for snorkeling with packed lunch. Late afternoon return to the beach resort for dinner and overnight.

Day 16

Relax on the beach while swimming either in the resort pool or sea. Full board at the beach resort.

Day 17

After lunch transfer to the airport for flight to Dar to connect with flight home.
