5 Days Mount Meru Climb

Overview

This 5-day Mount Meru climb offers an unforgettable trekking experience combined with stunning wildlife views. Starting with an overnight stay in Arusha, the journey begins at Momella Gate, ascending through the lush montane forest to Miriakamba Hut. Along the way, explore the Meru Crater and view the ash cone. Continue the adventure by climbing to Saddle Hut and summiting Little Meru. The highlight of the trip is the early morning ascent to Mount Meru’s summit (4,566m), where breathtaking views await. After descending, enjoy a short game drive in Arusha National Park before returning to Arusha for departure.

Day by Day

Day 1

Arrive JRO or Arusha and transfer to Palace Hotel for
Overnight bed/breakfast.

Day 2

After breakfast transfer to Momella gate 1,400m and start the climb. Climb for 3 – 4 hours through lower montane forest to Miriakamba hut 2,600m Picnic lunch. Afternoon explore Meru Crater and view the ash cone. Dinner And overnight Miriakamba.

Day 3

Climb for 4 – 5 hours to saddle hut. Afternoon climb Little Meru 3,820 m. Fullboard at Saddle Hut.

Day 4

Leave at 0200 and ascend to the summit 4,566 m, then return to Miriakamba hut with fullboard accommodation.

Day 5

Descend to Momella gate 1 – 2 hours. A driver will meet clients for a short game drive in Arusha National Park with picnic lunch. Afternoon return to Arusha and departure.
