A high montane plateau that bursts into colour in the rainy season, with dozens of orchid species and rare highland birds.
Kitulo sits on a high plateau in the Kipengere and Livingstone ranges of the Southern Highlands. Between December and April it becomes a carpet of wildflowers — orchids, red-hot pokers, aloes and proteas — which has earned it the name “Serengeti of flowers”.
It is a paradise for walkers and birders, with rare species such as Denham’s bustard and the blue swallow.
