Overview

Tanzania’s only coastal wildlife park, where savannah, mangroves and the Wami River meet the Indian Ocean.

Saadani is unique in East Africa: a national park that runs right down to the Indian Ocean. Game drives through grassland and acacia woodland can be followed by an afternoon on the beach or a boat trip on the Wami River, where hippos, crocodiles and waterbirds gather among the mangroves.

Wildlife includes elephant, giraffe, buffalo, hartebeest and lion, and green turtles nest on parts of the shore.
