Semi-arid wilderness on the Kenyan border with a black rhino sanctuary and a wild dog breeding programme — and views of Kilimanjaro.
Mkomazi is a dramatic landscape of open grassland, acacia bush and inselbergs, with Kilimanjaro on the horizon. It is a conservation success story: the park’s fenced sanctuary protects endangered black rhino, and a breeding programme has helped return African wild dogs to the wild.
Game drives reveal elephant, giraffe, lion and dry-country species, and the views over the Mkomazi Valley at sunset are unforgettable.
