Overview

Remote, untouched and rarely visited, Katavi is known for enormous buffalo herds and pools crowded with hippos in the dry season.

Katavi is one of Tanzania’s most isolated parks, reached by light aircraft. Its floodplains, lakes and woodland come alive in the dry season, when shrinking rivers concentrate hundreds of hippos and huge herds of buffalo, followed closely by lions and hyenas.

With very few visitors, Katavi offers a genuine sense of wilderness for experienced travellers looking for something completely different.
